Bidwill Uniting has formed a partnership with Buddhist charity Tzu Chi Foundation to offer a free dental clinic in Bidwill. The Tzu Chi Foundation provides a team of dedicated dentists, who donate their time, skills and resources to treat those who do not have dental insurance and/or cannot afford treatment.
In December we held our fifth free dental clinic with over 60 patients from across Mt Druitt attending. Patients were very grateful of the care and attention given to them and to their dental problems. Kids were entertained while their parents were in the dental chairs. It was a real community atmosphere, with people sharing their stories and expressing their thanks for the work of the volunteer dentists and assistants.
With low incomes, dental care can be a constant problem for residents of 2770. The free dental clinic provides an invaluable service to people who can’t afford dental care” says John Dacey, Community Minister with Bidwill Uniting.
It’s quite amazing to see it all in action, the hall is transformed into seven examination rooms with dental chairs and x-ray equipment.
Bidwill Uniting provides detailed administrative support, promotion and labour leading up to and during the weekend of the clinic. The temporary clinic runs over a weekend and offers basic dentistry services:
“The locals I spoke to when taking bookings were so pleased the clinic was happening again and very much appreciated this practical kindness” said Libby, one of our volunteers.
