At Bidwill Uniting we run our own programs. We are involved in a lot of collaborative projects. We support of lot of people and provide some useful services. However it is not those programs and services alone that change lives. It is our relationship centred approach and our choice to support the whole person, their families and their communities, that integrates all our work and ensures that it is effective. When residents share with us about what makes the difference for them, they do talk about our programs, but they equally talk about feeling welcome, safe, supported, and encouraged. Residents share about how our support of them enables their confidence to grow and they gradually feel empowered to set and achieve goals, often for the first time in their lives. They also talk about how important it is for them to contribute and give back to their own communities which we also encourage, support and provide opportunities for them to do. Our ongoing support enables people to maintain the changes that they make and genuinely choose their own destiny.
